H20 Salamander: Philippine's own Amphibian Tricycle

In the Philippines, the 3rd quarter of the year is Rainy season. Because of that, floods rise, especially in areas where floods are deep and not passable to light vehicles resulting to loss of revenue in everyday operation that are running their own business. A Filipino-owned develop a special public utility vehicle which will carry passenger, and can transport on both land and water; they called it H20 Salamander.

I was fortunate enough to see it upclose and personal. The said vehicle is in the development stage, however once this vehicle hits the production, it will comes in two variant; electric version, and gasoline-fed engine.

The design is ment for the Philippine setup, especially floods. It can carry 6 people, including the driver. You can see at the videos above, the said vehicle is feasible compared to the recent release of electric tricycle which is unable to meet its functionality when it submerged into water.

What is good about this is that H20 will attempt to produce 500 of this vehicle, which will be given to the Philippine Red Cross to be distributed to the flooded prone barangay in the Philippines.

In order that this project will be successful, they are asking for donation for any amount through a websit called www.startsomegood.com; a crowd-funding platform for social enterprises, nonprofit projects and change makers. The campaign will give social change supporters the opportunity to donate $10, $50, $100, $150 and $2,500 in this crowd funding campaign.

CHANGE HAS COME, CHANGE WILL COME No doubt about it, climate change has already come. While we can no longer do anything about it, we can – as a people – learn to manage it well. But in order to do this, changes need to be made. In particular, changes in the way we respond to natural calamities like flooding. These changes can come – and will come – with your help.

By logging on to www.startsomegood.com and with your support, you can take part in bringing a significant change that can help countless number of people’s lives during natural calamities, particularly severe flooding in the Philippines. And that change is the H2O Salamander. Together, we can make a difference.
