With the unveiling of 2013 Buick Encore, the said model will be released outside the US with a different badge on it. For example, in Europe the Buick Encore will be a rebadge of Vauxhall/Opel Mokka and a possible rebadge as a Chevrolet Sonic CUV — Take note that the engine of the Encore comes from a 1.4 Chevrolet Sonic model. Quite sad though, thought that I am expecting different from Buick; well, talk about globalization.
Consumers from Europe will definitely enjoy three engine selection from this model; 1.4 Ecotec Turbo and 1.6 Non-Turbo engine and 1.7 diesel engine. Added to that, a selection of two-wheel and four-wheel drive selection on a six-speed transmission; as for the US consumer, a 1.4 turbo engine is their only option choose from. In my opinion, when this model will reach the Asian market, this is definitely a Chevrolet Sonic CUV, especially in Southeast Asia — Just a hunch; we don't know, maybe they will still retain the Buick badge because in China, Buick already have a market.
Hope to see the final design of the Chevrolet Sonic CUV though, or any information about that vehicle if it will be sold in Asia.
